Land Use Council Recommendations
Land Use Leadership Council Recommendations
Official Policy
July 29, 2003The Ann Arbor Area Chamber of Commerce has reviewed the recommendations to the Land Use Leadership Council put forth by the Ann Arbor City Council(R-309-7-03) and the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners(Res. No. 03-0109).
We support the recommendations made by the City of Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County, including the following:
- Create a statewide plan including goals that reflect a consensus vision for Michigan’s future to serve as a framework for making state related public investments
- Consolidate the numerous planning, zoning, subdivision and land development acts into one unified Act and add provisions that require development to be consistent with a local unit of government’s master plan, zoning ordinances and land development regulations
- Promote agricultural operations by assessing farmland at its current use
- Allow local government units to transfer development rights across and within jurisdictional boundaries where the receiving zone represents infill development in an already urbanized area
