The Ann Arbor Area Chamber is encouraging local and state government officials to move the US-23 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) study off of the deferred project list and to study all potential commuting options to reduce congestion on US-23.
“Congestion on US-23 between I-96 and M-14 is a problem. Local employers and employees rely on US-23 and it serves one of the fastest growing areas in the state. Moving forward with the EIS study is the first step toward addressing the problem,” said Brandt Coultas of the Ann Arbor Area Chamber of Commerce.
The US-23 EIS study is currently on the state’s deferred list of projects, delaying any changes or improvements to the highway. The Ann Arbor Area Chamber of Commerce is encouraging the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to work with the Washtenaw County elected officials, planners and road professionals to move the US-23 Environmental Impact Statement Study off of the deferred project list and study all potential commuting options to address this problem, including mass transit.
