Here is how Chamber members have made a difference lately on business issues.

Single Business Tax

We recently emailed our membership at 11 a.m. on a Monday asking for input on potential changes to the Single Business Tax (SBT).  We got 100 responses by 5pm the same day.  This kind of member involvement makes it possible for us to be involved in issues that impact our members in a timely manner.

60% of members that responded to our recent email said Michigan should ‘Agree now to get rid of the Single Business Tax (SBT) at the end of 2007’  A significant number of members also expressed concern about getting rid of the SBT without a new business tax plan in place.

We used this input to develop our position on the Single Business Tax.  Check it out here.

Health Care

Our members were recently surveyed about their health care costs. To view the full survey results, click here

Downtown Development

When the City of Ann Arbor was considering how to plan for development in downtown Ann Arbor, they heard from Chamber members.

Over 100 Chamber members emailed City Council or signed a petition that urged our local government leaders to “adopt recommendations from the Calthorpe Plan  to improve zoning, permitting and other business processes and support increased density.  It is good for business.”

City Council adopted the Calthorpe Plan and is working on its implementation.
