Washtenaw County ETCS to Host Annual Community Day

Washtenaw County ETCS to Host Annual Community Day

August 12, 2010

On Saturday, August 14th, Washtenaw County’s Department of Employment Training and Community Services (ETCS) is partnering with many other County Departments and local non-profit organizations, including the Ann Arbor / Ypsilanti Regional Chamber, for this year’s Washtenaw County Community Day. This free event is open to the public and will showcase an array of services available to Washtenaw County residents, many of which are providing critical resources for our citizens during this tough economic climate.

County Administrator, Verna McDaniel, and County Board of Commissioners Chair, Rolland Sizemore, are encouraging County residents to come learn about and take advantage of all the resources that are provided to County residents. The event will be held on Saturday, August 14th at the corner of W. Michigan Avenue and Hamilton in downtown Ypsilanti and will run from 11am – 2pm.

The event will provide valuable information regarding free and/or low cost Washtenaw County and local non-profit programs and services, including:

  • Foreclosure Prevention Program
  • Head Start
  • Job Training Programs
  • Prescription Drug Discount Cards
  • Public Health Services
  • Public Transit and Transportation
  • Senior Services
  • Veteran’s Services
  • Weatherization
  • Youth Mentoring and Employment Services
  • And many more …
Additional activities include kids’ face painting, games, food, live entertainment and free giveaways (while supplies last).
